Clintonville Parking Task Force – The organizational meeting is:
Saturday, February 8th, 2020 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at Whetstone Library, 3909 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214
All residents of the Clintonville neighborhood, members of the Clintonville business community, and real estate developers are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The objective to the organizational meeting is to devise a strategy within the mission and bylaws set forth by the Clintonville Area Commission to address parking concerns and create impactful solutions.

Resolution of Support for Clintonville Traffic Signal Box Art
Whereas, Clintonville’s High Street corridor, extending from Glen Echo Ravine on the south, up to Chase Road, just south of Worthington on its north boundary,
Whereas, the CAC Planning and Development Committee reviews community focused development and planning issues, including civic and social development arising from the community and/or its various civic organizations, and explores what Federal, State, and local funds may be available to implement plans in the Clintonville area,
Whereas, the committee provides arenas for interested parties and the general population to participate and discuss all such issues affecting Clintonville, and works proactively with other community based organizations to forward the development and promotion of Clintonville in a manner consistent with the commission’s mission statement and neighborhood plan,
Whereas, the committee is exercising this work through its efforts to place traffic signal box artwork at up to 10 Clintonville High Street intersections stretching throughout the north-south High Street corridor, and the committee has partnered with Clintonville Incorporated, a Clintonville 501c3 charitable organization to foster support and funding of these artworks,
Whereas the committee solicited from the public, and obtained dozens of art submissions from local residents, and held a public vote for selection of the 10 winning designs,
On this date, January 2nd, 2020, we the Clintonville Area Commission expresses its support of this initiative and will assist in its successful implementation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE CLINTONVILLE AREA COMMISSION:
1. The Clintonville Area Commission demonstrates its support for the Clintonville community initiative for traffic signal box art along the High Street Corridor between Chase Road and Glen Echo Ravine.
The resolution was adopted by the Clintonville Area Commission on January 2nd, 2020.

We wanted to share some gas line work that is expected to occur in third quarter of 2020 so residents in those general areas are well informed. Here is a link to a detailed PDF on the work that is scheduled:

Hi Clintonville leadership,
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season.
Just wanted to catch everyone before the holidays, as we just received our planned 2020 work.
With the current Pacemont & Calumet project fresh in everyone’s minds, we will have one 2020 project in Clintonville entitled Rathbone & Milton. This project will be the same exact type project where we will be upgrading the gas line system and communicating with customers impacted.
This will take place (tentatively) in the 3rd Quarter (think late summer, early fall). We will install about 6,344 feet of mainline pipe and replace 156 service lines. In comparison to Pacemont and Calumet, which installed 6,100 feet of mainline pipe and impacted 227 customers.
Obviously when we have a better idea of start date, we will communicate that with you and customers impacted.
As further information is made available, updates will be provided but sharing what has been given in terms of planning at this time.

Sometimes, development is about more than just construction or renovation of buildings. And sometimes, parking is about more than where you leave your car.
That’s why Clintonville Area Commission chairwoman B.J. White, in pursuit of a more comprehensive approach to the ongoing issues in the neighborhood, is working to create a parking task force.
White proposed the effort during the Dec. 5 CAC meeting as a way of both providing a sounding board on the subject for residents and businesses and having an ongoing discussion not related to a single development or issue before the commission — one that might prove helpful as the community deals with future development considerations.
White said she already has approached officials from the city of Columbus and a few Clintonville businesses and residents about the task force, which will look primarily at development along High Street and how it impacts parking at businesses, in lots and on side streets. She said additional community volunteers are invited.
“I’m just trying to spark some interest in thinking about ways to address the issue,” White said.
″(Wetstone) did a parking study; they came back with some changes and, in the end, fulfilled all of the city planner’s requests,” White said. “What I learned, though, is that parking doesn’t need to be resolved only by the developer but (also) by the commission and the city.”
In that case, developer Evan Fracasso sought and was granted approval to open the brewpub with 10 parking spaces instead of the 43 required by zoning code.
White said she hopes to encourage more shared-use lots — in particular for developments that include restaurants and pubs, which use parking at different times from medical or other offices, retail shops and churches, for example.
“I know it’s been done in Worthington, and Wetstone did a shared agreement,” she said. “I’d like to work cooperatively with businesses, maybe beta-test some more partnerships and see if we can make a difference.”
Commissioner David Vottero concurred with the need to think creatively about parking.
“It makes sense to have this kind of public forum. Certainly, different parts of High Street have different issues relative to parking, and there is room for a whole range of approaches in the neighborhood,” Vottero said.
“It’s a good conversation to have and one (the CAC) can shepherd with property owners,” he said.
The task force will begin meeting in January. White intends for the group to continue gathering regularly for one year, unless disbanded by the CAC sooner.
“Something like this hasn’t been attempted before,” White said.
“I just hope to engage everyone together on the issue.”
