Please remember, Blueprint Columbus is funded by the City of Columbus’ Department of Public Utilities. There is no direct cost for any of our services to the residents. We have received reports there are private contractors in the area soliciting for similar work. If you are solicited about any work related to sump pumps, lateral lining, or downspout redirection, contact our Outreach Team to confirm you are in a Blueprint Neighborhood and will be receiving FREE services.

New Updates

Overbrook Chatham 

  • There will be crews working on lateral lining on the following streets:
    •  Yaronia Dr.
      • Crews will also be installing clean-outs on Yaronia Dr.
    • Easement between Northridge and Chatham Rd
  • OBA will be conducting investigations on downspouts throughout the entire project area.
  • OBA will be conducting downspout work on the following streets:
    • Blenheim Rd.
    • Northridge Rd.

Cooke Glenmont

  • Musson Brothers will be lining laterals on the following streets:
    • Canyon Dr
      • Crews will also be installing clean-outs on Canyon Dr.
  • MCSP will be scheduling downspout investigations and installations throughout the project area
Project Status

Weisheimer Indian Springs

  • All private property improvements have been completed.
  • Rain gardens will continue to have monthly cleanout/maintenance performed.

Blenheim Glencoe

  • Eramo will continue to conduct routine maintenance on the rain gardens..
  • Private property investigations for downspout redirection and lateral lining for this area begin early 2020. Residents will receive a letter when this area is “activated”.
  • From Department of Public Service: Blenheim Road resurfacing Update
    • The City of Columbus makes critical investments in street resurfacing projects like Blenheim to improve the quality of our roadways and infrastructure that residents depend on every day. Relocation of the main gas line on Blenheim has been completed by Columbia Gas. Now that this is completed the city will be able to pave Blenheim Rd. this year. Paving will not begin until after May. The Department of Public Services will reach out directly to the residents affected as the schedule develops for paving of the street.
  • From Department of Public Service: Arden Road resurfacing Update
    • The Department of Public Service will work with the contractor to set the schedule in the spring for the Arden Rd. rebuild/resurfacing. When weather permits in the spring, the contractor can start the concrete work for new curb and then street construction will follow as temperatures warm up.

Schreyer Springs

  • Facemyer has completed all project work within the project work zone. Rain gardens will continue to have a monthly cleanout/maintenance performed on them.
  • Downspout installations are complete.
  • Lateral Lining will begin in 2020.

Morse Dominion

  • Shelly and Sands have completed all rain garden work and will continue to maintain the rain gardens on a monthly basis.
  • BLD and OBA have both completed their private property work(lateral lining and downspout work).
General Notices

  • Several streets are slated for repaving in conjunction with Department of Public Service. Repaving schedules are currently being finalized with the contractor in most areas. When Blueprint receives schedule information from the Department of Public Service, we will also include that information in these notices.
  • The rain gardens are designed to drain in 48 hours or less. Some standing water within the garden after a rain event is normal. However, if the rain gardens are overflowing or have standing water for more than 2 days, please report that to blueprint@columbus.gov or 311.
  • Just like a normal storm drain, the rain gardens can’t do their job if leaves/debris are piling up and blocking water from entering the inlet. Our crews will clear these inlets during regular maintenance, but if you see leaves piling up and blocking the rain garden inlets, feel free to push them aside to allow rainwater to enter. And, as always, remember to keep leaves and yard waste out of the streets as much as possible.

Fledgling Meeting- Clintonville Parking Task Force

Clintonville Parking Task Force – The organizational meeting is:

 Saturday, February 8th, 2020 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at Whetstone Library, 3909 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214

All residents of the Clintonville neighborhood, members of the Clintonville business community, and real estate developers are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The objective to the organizational meeting is to devise a strategy within the mission and bylaws set forth by the Clintonville Area Commission to address parking concerns and create impactful solutions.

Whereas, Clintonville’s High Street corridor, extending from Glen Echo Ravine on the south, up to Chase Road, just south of Worthington on its north boundary,

 

Whereas, the CAC Planning and Development Committee reviews community focused development and planning issues, including civic and social development arising from the community and/or its various civic organizations, and explores what Federal, State, and local funds may be available to implement plans in the Clintonville area,

 

Whereas, the committee provides arenas for interested parties and the general population to participate and discuss all such issues affecting Clintonville, and works proactively with other community based organizations to forward the development and promotion of Clintonville in a manner consistent with the commission’s mission statement and neighborhood plan,

 

Whereas, the committee is exercising this work through its efforts to place traffic signal box artwork at up to 10 Clintonville High Street intersections stretching throughout the north-south High Street corridor, and the committee has partnered with Clintonville Incorporated, a Clintonville 501c3 charitable organization to foster support and funding of these artworks,

 

Whereas the committee solicited from the public, and obtained dozens of art submissions from local residents, and held a public vote for selection of the 10 winning designs,

 

On this date, January 2nd, 2020, we the Clintonville Area Commission expresses its support of this initiative and will assist in its successful implementation.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE CLINTONVILLE AREA COMMISSION:
1. The Clintonville Area Commission demonstrates its support for the Clintonville community initiative for traffic signal box art along the High Street Corridor between Chase Road and Glen Echo Ravine.

 

The resolution was adopted by the Clintonville Area Commission on January 2nd, 2020.

Helpful tips shared in the article to avoid becoming a victim of mail theft:

  • Use the letter slots inside post offices for mail, or hand it to a letter carrier
  • If an expected check or other valuable mail doesn’t arrive, contact the issuing agency immediately
  • Don’t send cash in the mail
  • Report all suspected mail theft to a postal inspector at 877-876-2455.

Upcoming Columbia Gas Line Work – Rathbone & Milton Area (~Q3 2020)

We wanted to share some gas line work that is expected to occur in third quarter of 2020 so residents in those general areas are well informed.  Here is a link to a detailed PDF on the work that is scheduled:

Hi Clintonville leadership,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season.

Just wanted to catch everyone before the holidays, as we just received our planned 2020 work.

With the current Pacemont & Calumet project fresh in everyone’s minds, we will have one 2020 project in Clintonville entitled Rathbone & Milton. This project will be the same exact type project where we will be upgrading the gas line system and communicating with customers impacted.

This will take place (tentatively) in the 3rd Quarter (think late summer, early fall). We will install about 6,344 feet of mainline pipe and replace 156 service lines. In comparison to Pacemont and Calumet, which installed 6,100 feet of mainline pipe and impacted 227 customers.

Obviously when we have a better idea of start date, we will communicate that with you and customers impacted.

As further information is made available, updates will be provided but sharing what has been given in terms of planning at this time.

Clintonville Parking Task Force

Sometimes, development is about more than just construction or renovation of buildings. And sometimes, parking is about more than where you leave your car.

That’s why Clintonville Area Commission chairwoman B.J. White, in pursuit of a more comprehensive approach to the ongoing issues in the neighborhood, is working to create a parking task force.

White proposed the effort during the Dec. 5 CAC meeting as a way of both providing a sounding board on the subject for residents and businesses and having an ongoing discussion not related to a single development or issue before the commission — one that might prove helpful as the community deals with future development considerations.

White said she already has approached officials from the city of Columbus and a few Clintonville businesses and residents about the task force, which will look primarily at development along High Street and how it impacts parking at businesses, in lots and on side streets. She said additional community volunteers are invited.

“I’m just trying to spark some interest in thinking about ways to address the issue,” White said.

″(Wetstone) did a parking study; they came back with some changes and, in the end, fulfilled all of the city planner’s requests,” White said. “What I learned, though, is that parking doesn’t need to be resolved only by the developer but (also) by the commission and the city.”

In that case, developer Evan Fracasso sought and was granted approval to open the brewpub with 10 parking spaces instead of the 43 required by zoning code.

White said she hopes to encourage more shared-use lots — in particular for developments that include restaurants and pubs, which use parking at different times from medical or other offices, retail shops and churches, for example.

“I know it’s been done in Worthington, and Wetstone did a shared agreement,” she said. “I’d like to work cooperatively with businesses, maybe beta-test some more partnerships and see if we can make a difference.”

Commissioner David Vottero concurred with the need to think creatively about parking.

“It makes sense to have this kind of public forum. Certainly, different parts of High Street have different issues relative to parking, and there is room for a whole range of approaches in the neighborhood,” Vottero said.

“It’s a good conversation to have and one (the CAC) can shepherd with property owners,” he said.

The task force will begin meeting in January. White intends for the group to continue gathering regularly for one year, unless disbanded by the CAC sooner.

“Something like this hasn’t been attempted before,” White said.

“I just hope to engage everyone together on the issue.”
