EDIT TO ADD LOCATION: 3230 N High Street (the CRC Annex)
The CAC will meet at 7 PM on Monday 11/24 to hold a special meeting in order to provide input into the Columbus Growth Strategy. As this is a last minute turn around, we are in the process of confirming a location and will update this announcement as soon as possible.
From the City:
“As part of Zone In’s ongoing community engagement efforts, the Planning Division invites your commission to provide a formal recommendation to Council regarding the Columbus Growth Strategy. The Columbus Growth Strategy is a planning initiative to provide broad, comprehensive land use recommendations that update affected existing land use plans and will serve as the basis for implementing new zoning districts for Phase Two of Zone In. You can find a copy of the Columbus Growth Strategy and the map here: www.columbus.gov/zoningupdate.
Phase Two of Zone In, “Economic and Housing Opportunity”, will focus on the remaining commercial parcels as well as our manufacturing and industrial parcels throughout the city. We appreciate your time, participation, and continued commitment to this effort. Community feedback to date has been carefully reviewed and incorporated into the proposed strategy, and we look forward to further collaboration in the spring as we continue work on Zone In and the mapping of new zoning districts.
The Columbus Growth Strategy is scheduled to go before City Council for a vote in early December. We would like to include a recommendation from your area commission into the official record. To ensure that occurs, please reply by November 30 to this email with your commission’s recommendation and the date the meeting took place. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will presume you are in support.”

This is another ridiculous example of City Council forcing their agenda on citizens while pretending to seek their input. It is unreasonable to expect citizens to manage to adjust their schedules this close to a major holiday. Adding insult to injury, they have determined that if we fail to respond , given less than 36 hours to do so, the City will assume we agree.
What hogwash!
Where will this meeting be held?
Given the short notice and complexity of the issue before the CAC, it is my request that the CAC send a notice of non support for the Zone In Phase 2.
While much of the proposed draft is positive there are to many gaps.
IE. These are only recommendations not City Code as I understand it. Meaning that the city and developers can continue to act as they see fit with minimal community input.
These actions were implemented on the assumptions that Intel and other large developments would bring a population increase. That’s now years off. We are in a perfect place to step back and take another look at these proposed changes.
