CAC Annual Election Timeline – 2023 (Remaining Events)

  • Saturday, August 26 Election Day:
    10:00 a.m. – 2:00p.m. Polling takes place at Whetstone Library Meeting Room, 3909 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214

Candidate Statements

 

Voters must present photo identification and evidence of place of residence and age OR a signed statement that they are 18 years of age or older and currently reside at a stated address within the election district.

Boundaries for District 1 and District 9 are:

  • District 1: Bounded on the south by the Glen Echo Ravine, on the east by the railroad tracks just east of Indianola, on the north by the center line of Weber Road, and on the west by the center line of High Street.
  • District 9: Bounded on the south by the Columbus City limits and the eastward projection of the Columbus city limits (west of High Street) and by the center line of Georgetown Drive and its westward projection and the south line of the State Schools for the Blind and Deaf (east of High Street), on the east by the railroad tracks just east of Indianola, on the north by the city limits of Worthington, and on the west by the Olentangy River and the Columbus city limits.

  • Thursday, May 18 Candidate Petition Packets Made Available Online at CAC
  • May 18 – June 20 Candidate Signature Collection Period
  • Tuesday, May 23 Orientation Meeting for Candidates
    6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Whetstone Library, 3909 North High Street, Columbus OH 43214
    (Optional, but Strongly Encouraged)
  • Tuesday, June 20 Deadline for Submission of Candidate Petitions and Notarized
    4:00 p.m. Nominating Petition Affidavits to the Election Committee
    Submit to Front Desk at Whetstone Library, 3909 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214
  • June 20 – June 30 Election Committee Certifies Completed Candidate Packets
  • Thursday, July 6 Election Committee Presents Certified Candidates to the CAC 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, August 4 Deadline to Notify Election Committee of Write-in Candidacy 5:00 p.m. Notification must be in writing and received by the Election Committee by 5:00 p.m. Submit Required Information to Front Desk at Whetstone Library, 3909 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214
  • Tuesday, August 8 Election Committee Certifies Write-in Candidate(s) and notifies 6:30 p.m. all candidates; deadline for submission of candidate statements to be posted on the CAC website. Election Committee posts final information on election districts, location of polls, date and hours of election, descriptions or maps of the districts, names of candidates for each district and identification requirements at the polls.
  • Wednesday, August 9 Election Committee Submits to Media Information on: Election (or earlier) Districts, Location of Polls, Date and Hours of Election, Descriptions or Maps of the Districts, Names of Candidates for Each District, Identification Requirements at the Polls
  • Tuesday, August 22 Early Voting Day:
    6:00pm – 8pm Whetstone Library Meeting Room, 3909 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214
