The Clintonville Area Commission’s Zoning and Variance Committee is looking for one more person to serve through January 2027.
No one who lives in Districts 7, 8, & 9 has applied, so I hope to recommend someone from that area to fill the spot (the CAC has the ultimate decision). There’s no requirement to have a committee member from each district, but this is the entire northeast part of Clintonville (and Beechwold), roughly from Glenmont to Worthington between High Street and the railroad tracks, with a spur for the Broad Meadows area. For more precise boundaries, go to this link: https://www.
The public mostly notices this committee for business variances, but the bulk of the work involves neighbors asking for exceptions to the rules to build ADUs, garages, driveways, additions and the like. Four example, this month, our only variance request was a couple on West Henderson who want a car turn-around in their front yard.
We meet once a month, usually the last Wednesday of the month (sometimes the second-to-last). And we give applicants the chance to make their case, neighbors the chance to make meaningful comment, and the Commission the information it needs to help it make a more informed recommendation to the City.
If interested, please send me a short bio and a statement of interest (why you want to serve and what you believe you will add to the committee) at hardwick.zoning@gmail.com.
There is no absolute deadline, but I’d prefer to recommend a name to the CAC before their meeting on Thursday, February 5, 2026. I will also give the Commissioners the names of all who submitted their information. Again, the Commission has the final say.
Finally, if you have read this far, there’s a darn good chance you’d do well on the Committee.
