Welcome to the Clintonville Area Commission

“Committed to the undertaking of the preservation of the values of the community through promotion, implementation and recommendation to city officials.”

The CAC was empowered in 1974 by the Columbus City Charter to represent the Clintonville community in the discussion of community concerns. By City Code, the purpose of the CAC is to “…afford additional voluntary citizen participation in the decision making in an advisory capacity and to facilitate communications, understanding and cooperation between neighborhood groups, city officials and developers”.

Election Cancellation for Districts 4, 5, and 7

Hello Neighbors,

Sharing the update from our Election Committee Chair.  Elections for the position of CAC Commissioner for Districts 4, 5, and 7 are cancelled. Each of the districts had one applicant for the position of Commissioner and all of the applicants were certified as qualified. No one applied to be a Write-In Candidate in any of the open districts. Under the CAC Election Rules, if there is only one candidate for a single district, and there are no Write-In Candidates for that district, the candidate will be declared the winner.

Commissioners for the term beginning in 2025 are:

Hanna VanKuiken  – District 4

Brittany Boulton – District 5

Michael Weinman  – District 7

CAC 2024 Election Update

Election Day for open seats in Districts 4, 5 and 7 is August 24th.

The following Clintonville residents have been certified as Petition Candidates:

  • Hanna VanKuiken – District 4
  • Brittany Boulton – District 5
  • Michael Weinman – District 7

There is still time for eligible residents of Districts 4, 5 and 7 to qualify as Write-In Candidates!

Write-In Candidate Process:

  • Obtain at least 15 valid signatures as required by the CAC Election Rules
  • Submit required documentation to the Front Desk of Whetstone Library by Friday, August 2, 2024, at 5pm,

Candidate Petition Packets (which include the Write-In Candidate documentation) are available for pick up at the Front Desk of Whetstone Library, 3909 North High St., Columbus, OH 43214.

Please note that under the CAC Election Rules, if there is only one candidate for a single district, and there are no Write-In Candidates for that district, the CAC will declare the candidate the winner of the election and cancel that portion of the election.  Updates on the status of candidates for districts 4, 5 and 7 will be posted to the CAC website and CAC Facebook page.

Those interested in running for the Clintonville Area Commissioner seats in Districts 4, 5, and 7 that are up for election in 2024 are encouraged to attend an Orientation Meeting for Candidates at the Whetstone Library, 3909 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214, this Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Election Committee Chair Melissa Doll will be available to provide an overview of the 2024 Election process and answer any questions you may have. The Orientation Meeting for Candidates is optional but strongly encouraged.

If the idea of advocating on behalf of your community and working with the City of Columbus sounds like something you’d like to do, then run for a Clintonville Area Commission seat!

Candidate Petition Packets are now available.

Districts on the ballot this year are numbers 4, 5, and 7.

Boundaries for Districts:

  • District 4: Bounded on the south by the center line of Orchard Lane (west of High Street) and by the center line of Oakland Park Avenue (east of High street), on the east by the railroad tracks just east of Indianola, on the north by the center line of Arden Road and its eastward projection (east of High Street) and by the center line of Hollenback Drive and its westward projection(west of High Street), and on the west by the Olentangy River.
  • District 5: Bounded on the south by the center line of Arden Road and its eastward projection, on the east by the railroad tracks just east of Indianola, on the north by the center line of Glenmont Road and its eastward projection, and on the west by the center line of High Street.
  • District 7: Bounded on the south by the center line of Glenmont Road and its eastward projection, on the east by the railroad tracks just east of Indianola, on the north by the center line of Garden Road, and on the west by the center line of High Street.

  • Printed copies are also available for pick up at the front desk of Whetstone Library beginning today.

Candidates will have until July 19th to collect the required number of signatures.  Election Day is Saturday, August 24.
